WOYWW 252 - Where's the week gone?!

I only blinked and another week's passed, and another sad one, too. We said goodbye to Ann, a leader of our church and former colleague from my days in the church office, before I retired. She had battled valiantly against cancer for two years, and was finally called home on Friday. My heart goes out to Graham, her two girls, and her Mum.

This lovely pic was taken at their daughter Beckie's wedding two years ago. A difficult Mother's Day for them all, this year.

I managed to make Mum's pressie for Mother's Day without her noticing. A couple of years ago I made Frank for her. Here he is, with his brother Sam (I can't believe I'm sad enough to write all this!!)

Anyway, meet Grace -

Yes, I know she doesn't have a face yet, but my embroidery threads are lost in the piles of craft stuff waiting to be unpacked onto new shelves in the craft/spare room once Mum moves downstairs to her new room.

Frank seems quite smitten

and doesn't seem to mind that he can't stare into her eyes yet!

Having got that project out of the way, I've started on a cushion for DD1. She saw a picture on the net, and asked if I could make one like it (sorry, I don't know who to credit for it - I only saw a pic of the finished item).

Watch this space.

I don't care if you need a new ball of wool - I'm not budging!

Anyway, DH is out for a curry with the lads, Mum is settled to watch Murder She Wrote, Rosie has found another bed than my wool basket

And me? I'm going to crack open the Mother's Day Baileys, put my feet up and carry on with a little hookie.

Have a good week, see you over at Julia's  xx

  1. Oh yes, you'll have to find those threads so Grace can look back at her beloved Frank!
Aren't cats funny how they like to sit on tour work.

  2. Ooh, I like the crochet...funky colours. I'll look forward to seeing the finished results! I do admire your patience making dolls...I just know I'd end up pulling my hair out!
And your friend's passing makes me determined to just enjoy every day.....
    Hugs, LLJ 8xx

  3. Gracie looks lovely! Even without eyes she has quite the personality already. My heart goes out to Ann's family and friends. My mom is also dealing with cancer and now pneumonia. Anyway, I hope you have a good day and happy WOYWW.

  4. Sorry to hear about the passing of your lovely friend. I lost my 1st hubby to cancer and it is so sad that people have to suffer so. I will say a prayer for her and her family and friends. Your cats are so adorable, they know how to enjoy life! Your mom is going to love her present as they are just precious! Winnie#71

  5. Wow what a knitting and crocheting, I wish I could create something like that! xoxo Ruth

  6. Hi there, thank you for stopping by my WOYWW desk today! Yes, the notebooks will be finished and blogged within the week! I am so sorry to read about your friend, so sad. I love the makes on your blog - in fact I have just made a bunny like these - not quite finished, he needs clothes! I've been making a sewn bunny door wreath for Easter too. Your Mum will be your kitty too. I will definitely be coming back, hugs Carole Z XX #69

  7. I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your friend, how sad. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
Grace is absolutely gorgeous, even without a face! Such a lovely Mother's day gift!
    Happy WOYWW!

  8. Sorry to hear about your friend. I lost my best friend (of many years) last year to ovarian cancer. Grace is gorgeous. Thanks for visiting . Anne x #28

  9. Thanks for stopping by earlier. Sorry to hear about your friend. I have just been gifted a miracle, as my Ma is now cancer free, so I know how hard it can be. Love the bunnies and the kitty cracked me up - why do they all love WOOL!! Cx #49

  10. So sorry for the loss of your friend. There seems to have been so much news like this lately. So sad.

Love the photos of your work! I do wish I had the sewing/knitting/crocheting knack, but never seem to quite get on with it.

  11. What a lovely post, Chrysalis - and I loved reading your profile, too! Just gorgeous... My hubby and I both love teddies too (see the pic at the top of my blog) and like you, I tend to flit from this to that, creative-wise - hence the "butterfly brained" bit in my blog title lol!!

What a beautiful kitty Rosie is. I'm afraid our 2 are banned from my ARTHaven because Beatrice in particular is far too nosey for her own good and causes a lot of trouble!! I am very sorry to hear about the death of your lovely friend, and I join you in praying for comfort for her family and friends as her own long journey of suffering comes to an end.

I love what you made for your mum! Yes, we are blessed indeed to have our Mums still with us. Dad died in early December but had been in residential care for 18 months with dementia, and it is a great comfort to know that he is now with the Lord.

We have had such a lovely day celebrating Mum's 93rd birthday! I've just uploaded a post about it.

Thanks for your visit and your lovely comment - I'm glad you like the knitting!

Off to have a little look around your blog.

    Happy WOYWW,
    Shoshi #20

  12. Hi there! Lots of lovely projects on the go - I'm sure Gracie is going to be well received. Has mum moved into her room yet? I recall you were decorating it last time I called in.

So sorry to hear about your friend. My bestie of many years has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, a bit of a blow but so so far the outlook is good. We never know what is around the corner do we? Thank you for your visit, Happy WOYWW, Cindy. x

  15. Lovely post today. I just lost my Mom March 19th. I had her for almost 89 years! I am blessed! Thank you for your earlier visit to my Blog. You asked about our Encouragement Ministry. One wonderful gracious lady heads it up. They make calls, and visits, and send cards. I head up the making of the cards. The encouragement committee meets every month, but we only make cards every three months. We announce it in the bulletin on Sundays when we are going to have it. We usually have it Wednesday mornings after ladies Bible study. That way, they are already there! :) So 8 our of 20 ladies stay, and maybe two or three more come that weren't in Bible study. We had nine today and made a total of 35 cards. The head of the Encouragement committee comes over a couple of days ahead of time and we use my Cuttlebug and Bigshot to cut out sayings and verses that she does on the computer. We use those on the insides of the cards. So we have that done ahead of time. The Ladies Ministry supplies the card stock, scissors, adhesive and then people bring papers and stickers, and punches and all kinds of things. Then we just create! (and have fun!)
The people on the encouragement committee called me when my Mom was ill, and they sent both her and myself (Praying for you cards that we had made).
The head of the encouragement committee even visited my dear sweet Mom when she was ill on several occasions. Their way of ministering to me, because my Mom was member of another church. These ladies pray with those that they minister to.
These ladies have volunteered to minister. Does this answer your questions? I would be glad to answer more. Thank you again for visiting. #44

  30. HI there. Buzzing through with a hug at the loss of your friend. It seems harder when they fight for naught. A reminder we do what we can and be ready when the time comes. Sad as that may be.

Love that your kitty wants to help. At least that's what they think they're doing LOL furry little kids, they be.

Love your bunnies. I made pigs similar for my sister one year. These two make quite a pair.
    Creative BLessings!

  36. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I can see the love and happiness in the photo of your friend and her husband. Cancer took my mother, sadly, at the age of 55. That was over 20 years ago now.

  39. Chysalis. Rather belatedly returning your visit as we are now home. We love our boat too, but internet access is rubbish on the cut. I have briefly looked at my cards and do have some ideas now, thanks.
I love your little Rosie, she is gorgeous, and your crochet in subtle greys and white is beautiful. I see from Sunday's post that you have sewn them together now. They look lovely.
