WOYWW - One Down, One to Go - Twice!

I finished the first bookcase today. Before, it looked rather tired and sad -

So I started with a coat of white primer, then two coats of satin coat (decided a colour would be too much)

Then, like the wall unit I revamped last year

I wallpapered the back (looks patchy cos not dry yet)

Then I used the sticky-back plastic to cover the shelves.

I'm now a happy flutterby, and looking forward to tackling this one's sister.

On the sock front, I've turned the heel of the second one

and I'm pleased to say it's growing more quickly than the first.

Whoops! Hope you didn't notice the clock in that pic, still waiting some more TLC! Maybe next week LOL! That's one of the prob's of having a flutterby nature.

Hope your week is going well, and I'll see you over at Julia's for a virtual cuppa. Don't know what I'm on about? Click on the WOYWW button on my side-bar to join in the fun and take a sneaky peek at crafting all over the world, today.

Hugs, Chris xx

  12. Oh what a fabulous makeover on your "new" bookshelf! I love to see a good reuse/redo project. It's always inspiring, especially for me who loathes painting, even though it makes everything look so fresh and clean. Happy WOYWW! Crystal

  14. Hi Chris, Wow! I am impressed by what you did to that book case. Very nice. I also like 'the one you made earlier' wall unit. You are clever.
Your socks are really progressing! I remember I took months to do mine....
What's with the clock? Is that getting the beauty treatment too?
Thank you for letting me look over you shoulder.

  15. I love this, Chris! I have got two small cabinets and a flat-pack Ikea box (had for years and it's still in its packaging lol!!) which I want to paint eventually. Just shows what can be done in a very simple way to give them a new lease of life. Your socks are great, too. Thanks for your lovely supportive comment on my blog. We are certainly enjoying our few days' break from Mum, and enjoying a holiday at home.

    Happy WOYWW,

  21. Hi Chris, thank you for visiting my blog and leaving an encouraging comment! I thought I had left a comment here, but looks like I haven't! Your post is a good reminder for me that we crafty girls can try our hands at DIY home deco as well! In my house my hubby does all the DIY - he prides himself on being the DIY guru, but next time I'll ask him to give me a brush too!

  30. Brilliant new socks! Well done for having a go, but let me warn you, they're totally addictive!! I'm almost done with my 12th pair for the year and the next two pairs are already ready to go! I've even made a spreadsheet with socks I want to knit, when I think I can fit them in and which yarn (from my stash) I plan on using !! Welcome down the rabbit hole, lol! I plan to start this pair in October, it'll be the most complicated pair yet so I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew!
