WOYWW - A Happy Accident

Hi - I was not a little cross, when I knocked over the cup of tea dye on my desk (yes, I know it was my fault for not having shifted it earlier) but every cloud, and all that --- in mopping up, I opened an envelope labelled 'decoupage flowers' that I'd been given and not checked. Not flowers at all, but 10 cards with enough Christmas decoupage to make them, and an extra 6 - result!!

That boost was just enough to get the card making juices flowing again, so I then did one for a friend (ignore the strange shadows)

and for another, together with an owl brooch pressie.

Lightbulb moment - I could do similar over and over, using other stamps - butterflies, etc ...

Just read Julia's SIPIDI post on Monday, and will join in the fun at Fiona's, with this

On a slightly larger scale, the double quilt is progressing. I'm really enjoying this - all that hand sewing is very relaxing, and am happy, considering it's my first attempt at patchwork.

No, I'm not trying to breed these! The pale one is mine, and the other two were given to me (in the hope that I could salvage one) for DD2, who wants to learn to sew (hurray!)

In the event, both of them seem to work fine, so she will take one away when she has mastered threading it, etc., and I will keep the other (ssh! don't tell DH) for card making.

Finally, it may be wet and windy outside, but postie brought me a ray of sunshine this morning - I've been humming and ha-ing over this for days, and finally took the plunge - happy!

Well, I've waffled on enough - off over to Julia's to catch up with what all you little crafters have been up to. Don't know WOYWW? Just click the button on my side bar and pop over for a real treat!

Just a thought - do any of you UK lovelies know where I can get an adapter for my Cricut? It got thrown out during house upheavals. The website only says compatible for US electrical supply. Thanks xx

Hope you have a really good week. Hugs, Chris xx

  6. A girl can never have too many sewing machines...you just never know when one goes faulty and I really can't go a day without using mine.
    Love the patchwork...well done you.

  7. It's an ill wind that blows nobody good, eh? Great find after the accident....
Three machines huh? Well, if you've got it, flaunt it is my motto!! Lol. Great that DD2 has got the sewing bug too. And your patchwork is coming along a treat, hand sewing is very therapeutic, isn't it, but I really don't know if I'd have the patience to complete a project that big!

  16. Hey Chris, thanks for the visit earlier. Mexico was fab! Glad you liked my card. I love that Russian Doll card of yours and how sweet is that brooch, my CB would LOVE it, she is obsessed by Owls. Ha ha I had x3 machines at one time - my ancient reliable Singer (circa 1975), my actual Brother (who now lives with my Momma in the UK) and the one that my cats broke. Glad to hear that DD2 wants to learn to sew. Cool bag too. Cx #19

  22. What a happy accident! Beautiful cards, I especially like the one with the Russian dolls, as you say the design would be great with all kinds of stamps. Have you checked out Amazon fro the Cricut adapter - I just typed "cricut adapter" in and loads of accessories came up, hopefully they'll have one? Happy WOYWW :o) Annie C #82

  23. You picked one of the most complicated quilt patterns out there for your first attempt, just so you know. We call it "Grandmother's Flower Garden" and it's an excellent candidate for handwork, so persevere. :-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and for the nice comments.

  26. LOVE that bag - surprised you dithered :) It really is a blast of spring. Love the cards too but my word that quilt really is going to be stunning. I get you too, hand work can be restful and relaxing and so long as you don't mind taking the time to finish, it's fab. Funny but the webinar I was TRYING to take was for the SLOW STITCHING movement and it is just that take a step back, enjoy the process, attitude that appealed to me. Life rockets by so fast, my rush to get stuff done if the doing is where the enjoyment is? :)

    Happy (late again) WOYWW!

  29. I am halfway wondering if you have like an electronic's store ( in the US we have "radio shack or best buy" ) and take in the cord you want to adapt and ask if they have something that will convert it for you? ( and its possible it would be cheaper than hunting down a name brand cricut piece because, it would be a universal to fit the plug. Does that make sense? your quilt looks fabulous!! :) thanks for the visit! ~Stacy #67

Thanks for letting me look over your shoulder,

  32. Fabby cards. Glad the accident turned out ok.

Can't help with the power supply, except to say I have some German fish tank accessories and all I had to do for them is use a two pin adapter, as we have three pins here.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.

  40. Loving your happy accident and cards, especially the enjoy life one-bright and cheerful.

I admire your hand sewing the quilt! That is certainly a lot of work, I am sure it will look marvellous when finished.

Cannot help with the cricut adaptop I'm afraid as I only use manual machines (apart from my sewing machine-I have 2! A cheap one for cards and my decent one for actual sewing!).

Thanks for visiting my desk already

  41. great looking desk and projects this week! Love the cards and the quilt! I was hoping if you were successful breeding them you would be offering up one as blog candy! I gave my old one to DD and really miss it even though I bought a new one! Thanks for coming and visiting my desk this week. I am so late getting around but it seems something always gets in my way of desk hopping! Have a great rest of the week. Vickie #43

  42. Chris, thought I had already posted, but can't find what I had put on your page, so will try again.
Love the patchwork, lovely pastel colours, and isn't it strange how, if people know you sew, they give you sewing machines. Hope DD enjoys sewing and you can have fun together.
Thanks for visiting my page, bless you

  43. Thank you for visiting my desk, the owl brooch is so cute and your cards are very lovely. I have often thought about getting a second cheap machine to use for my scrapbooking and cardmaking - I won't use my sewing machine as it wasn't cheap and I would hate to ruin it by getting glue and paper fibres in the gubbins of the machine. The patchwork is beautiful, hope you will share it when it is finished.
